Transesophageal (TEE) ultrasound probes are expensive, delicate devices that require a certain level of care. Keep your facility’s TEE probes compliant with infection control and storage solutions.
Protect the TEE probe and patient by covering the probe and utilizing bite blocks during the procedure. After the procedure, use trays specifically designed for TEE transducers to safely transport the contaminated probe to be high-level disinfected. Pre-clean and high-level disinfect the probe in a manner that adheres to national guidelines and ultrasound manufacturer instructions for use. Following high-level disinfection, store the clean probe in a closed environment that hangs the TEE probe vertically and which separates the probe’s tip from the handle.
Properly disinfecting and storing TEE probes helps reduce the risk of contamination between patients while also protecting expensive equipment from damage. Work with a trusted partner to achieve confident compliance of infection control for ultrasound.Download PDF
